Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take before I receive my ticket confirmation?
Ferry tickets will be sent by e-mail. You will use the e-mail sent to you as your ticket to present at the counter. Due to Internet conditions in Thailand the payment can take several hours to clear. You should receive your confirmation within 12 hours. If, for some reason, you have not received your confirmation e-ticket within 12 hours after receiving their payment confirmation, we must be contacted so we can send a new ticket. If we have not been contacted within 24 hours prior to the departure time, phiphi-ferry.com cannot be held responsible if you have not received your ticket on time. You can contact us by going to the ‘Contact Us’ page and fill in the form.
Are there any hotels near the pier in Phuket?
There are no hotels in that area of town, so we recommend that you stay anywhere near the center or west of the island. When you book a hotel, contact us and we can arrange for minivan pick-up depending on your location. We need at least 48 hours notice prior to your departure to book the pick-up.
Where is the pier?
In Phuket the boats leave from Rassada Pier MAP, Sea Angle Pier or Chalong Pier MAP. Sea Angle Pier is also known as Phuket-PhiPhi Port and is located on Koh Siray. After crossing the bridge to Koh Siray you turn right after about 300 meters MAP. If you are hiring a driver to take you to your ferry, the driver will most likely be familiar with the ferry pier location. The Andaman region is quite small and most locals know their way around very well. At Krabi the boat leaves from Klong Jilad pier and arrives at Tonsai Bay on Phi Phi. At Ao Nang the boat leaves from Nopparattara pier and arrives at Tonsai Bay pier on Phi Phi. On Phi Phi the boats leave from Tonsai Bay pier. On Railay there is a waiting point in front of the Sun Tropical Resort, on West Railay. On Koh Lanta the boat leaves from Saladan pier. Those passengers who have booked for Laem Tong Bay on Phi Phi will have to transfer to another boat at Tonsai Bay. The transfer is included in the price.
Can we bring any luggage?
The ferry ticket includes ferry transport, luggage fees and handling. There are no limitations on your personal luggage amount or weight.
Can we buy food on the ferry?
Ferries to and from Phi Phi serve light refreshments on board. Snacks can also be bought during the trip.
Will the weather conditions affect my travels?
The ferryboats sail every day but not in extreme weather. The boat schedules and timing are approximate and may be modified without notice to fit the tide and local weather conditions. On days with high wind, you must be prepared for the voyage to last a little longer and we recommend you take a seasickness pill 30 minutes before boarding the boat if you are afraid of getting seasick. You will need to remain indoors during the journey. On sunny days, boats will have the sun deck open to passengers. PhiPhi-Ferry.com reserves the right to cancel voyages or to change departure times without notice - due to emergency situations or bad weather conditions. Cancellations are done for the safety and comfort of our passengers and refunds will not be issued.
How do I find my boat?
Please print your confirmation ticket and bring it with you to the pier. Show the boat staff your e-mail confirmation ticket and they will give you a sticker, and/or boarding pass. They will show you which boat to board, and the staff will help you to get your luggage on board. In Phuket, you will find the staff at booths in front of the boat loading area. Elsewhere, you will find the staff near the boats usually wearing boat uniforms.
Can we buy our tickets at the pier?
We accept online payments only. There are boat services that sell tickets at the piers, but you have to pay a higher price. In high season there is also a big risk of the boats being full.
When is low / high season?
Low season is during the summer season months (May-October). At this time the number of boats is reduced. Boats to outlying islands may be cancelled due to irregular weather conditions. High season is during the winter season months (November- April), boats to outlying islands are increased and schedules may change at a week or two’s notice. If you are travelling in the transition periods, please be prepared for schedule changes.
Are the ferries safe?
All of our ferries are regulated and approved by the Thai Navy and many of the boats are new. However as on any voyage, you should be responsible for your own safety - we recommend that you locate the exits and life vests when you arrive on board. Included insurance in Thailand for travellers is usually around 10,000 THB, which to foreigners is more a symbolic sum. We recommend that you buy travel insurance for the duration of your trip in the amount of at least 200,000 baht for your own safety.
Can we travel with children?
Regular ferries: Children’s rates are for children aged 4-12. Infants travel at no charge. High Speed Ferry: Children’s rates are from 2-11 years old. Infants rates are from 0-2 years old. Children are allowed to bring any car seats and strollers as part of their luggage. The boats are safe for travelling with children, however please remember that you must care for their safety yourself. Please make sure to locate safety jackets and watch your children at all times. The waves can be rough and if your children are prone to seasickness, we advise you to give them medication against seasickness. Please consult your doctor in this matter.

Can I cancel my reservation?
We accept ferry reservation cancellations within 24 hours notice prior to your departure. You will be refunded the full price minus the transaction fee of 500 baht per bookings. Please expect 15 days for the money to get back to your card. In case of emergencies, we would like to help as much as possible, but if you cancel with under 24-hours notice we are not obligated to refund your tickets. Please go to the ‘Contact Us’ page and fill in the form.
Is it possible to reschedule my booking?
If you need to reschedule the date of your trip you can go to www.phiphi-ferry.com/reschedule. You can only reschedule your date and one trip at a time at the cost of 200 Baht per trip. Rescheduling can ONLY be done as late as 48 hours prior to your departure. When your payment has been verified we will reschedule and send you a new confirmation/e-ticket to print out and bring to the pier with you.
How to get transportation from the airport to Rassada pier or Sea Angel pier (Phuket)
The best way to arrive directly to the pier in Phuket from the airport is to take the meter taxi. At the exit of the airport, follow the sidewalk to the right all the way to the meter taxi sign, where you can find a transfer for 450 baht. The trip will take approximately one hour depending on traffic. Each taxi can accommodate three people and their luggage. If you need a minivan pick-up for groups of 4 or more please contact us by going to the ‘Contact Us’ page and fill in the form. We need at least 48 hours notice prior to your departure to book the pick-up.
I have booked my trip but forgot to book a minivan/land transfer.
Go to the menu Land Transfer & Prices and book the land transfer there.
Who do I contact if I can’t find the answer to my question?
Please go to the ‘Contact Us’ page and fill in the form. We will answer your questions as soon as possible.
How will I find my taxi service at the pier?
Upon arrival at the pier, look for a driver with the location of your choice indicated on a card. The driver may also have your name written on the card. If you do not spot one in the first 2 minutes, ask ferry personnel to help locate the driver.
Will I have enough time to catch my flight?

During high season, we strongly advise you not to book ferry trips on the same day as any scheduled flight. Please bear in mind that our ferries may be delayed for various reasons and this might effect your travel itinerary. If you cannot avoid such circumstances, then our firm advice is to pre-arrange a private taxi from your arrival pier to the airport. We do not want you to miss any flights at all and this is our best advice to you. Some guidelines are: If you plan to catch a connecting flight upon arriving Phuket with our ferries, please calculate AT LEAST 3 hours from arrival time at Rassada Pier and Sea Angel Pier and up to 5 hours from arrival time at Chalong Pier until your flight departure.

Can we cancel our roundtrip?
Round trips can not be cancelled if the first leg of the journey has already been used. Round trips that haven't been used at all, can be cancelled within 24 hours prior to your departure.
Must I print out my ticket?
Your e-ticket says that you must print out your ticket and bring it to the pier with you to show our ferry staff before boarding the ferry. It is usually possible to do so at your hotel by forwarding the ticket to the hotel's e-mail address.

It also says on the ticket that in case of an emergency you can show the ticket on your smart phone. This is an issue we are having some difficulties with, especially outside Phuket and Phi Phi. Mainly the problems are due to the staff not being well enough trained to know that they can accept your passage, as long as it is shown on your smart phone.

Also it is due to the fact that the pier staff find new jobs and new staff members are hired. We do not operate these ferries ourselves but have subcontractors to do so and we are working very hard at trying to make them understand that they need to accept modern technology and new ways of doing things. However changes take time, especially in Asia, but we are hoping that soon this will not be a problem anymore.
