Maphrao Pier

The Maphrao Pier welcomes and sends off many to the island of Koh Libong. Koh Libong is a well-kept secret and home to many treasures to see and enjoy, as it is the largest island of the Trang province. Koh Libong is for the traveler that is up for an adventure: not strictly a resort experience.
After a beautiful ferry ride to the island, visitors find that there are kayak, canoe and motorbike rentals to get around the island to see attractions, such as rubber plantations. Other types of transportation are limited.
Electricity and internet is available on a schedule, as the island is more of an immersion into local culture. Restaurants are on the island along with a few resorts, but tourists have been known to pay locals to be their dinner guests as well.
The community is small, made up of 6,000 island residents, mainly Muslim fishing families that live in the colorful community by the sea. The island is also home to the endangered dugong, which is a sea-mammal that is described as similar to a manatee that feeds on the underwater sea-grasses offshore.
Visitors will be charmed by the wildlife, the immersion experience, and the human and nature interactions that they encounter upon stepping off of the ferry at the Maphrao Pier.
