As one of the main areas of departure to surrounding islands, Rassada Pier can be spotted just off to the side of the action, only a short ride from Phuket Town. Visitors travel to Phuket for the vast experiences that range from unbelievable seafood dinners for a great value near the coast, to the many festivals that take place throughout the year on the island. Standing at the edge of Rassada Pier, there are breathtaking sights of the fold where sky meets sea, as the large ferries come and go throughout the day.

Ferries from Rassada Pier

Rassada is the busiest ferry port on Phuket, and the Phuket to Koh Phi Phi ferry is its flagship crossing: boats leave roughly every hour through the morning and early afternoon in high season, with speedboats making the trip in around an hour and conventional ferries taking about two. Tickets start at a few hundred baht. From the same pier you can also sail towards the Krabi coast — Krabi Town, Ao Nang and Railay — as well as to Koh Lanta, and in high season an express service runs the long haul south to Koh Lipe.

Getting to the pier

The pier sits on the southeast shore of the island, about ten minutes by taxi from Phuket Town. From the west-coast beaches — Patong, Karon, Kata — allow around 45 minutes to an hour, and a little more from the airport. Many of the ferry tickets we sell include a shared minivan pick-up from your Phuket hotel, which is the easiest way to make an early boat.

Before you board

Plan to be at the pier 45–60 minutes before departure. Each operator has a check-in counter in the terminal building where your booking is exchanged for a boarding sticker, and the crew loads larger luggage on board for you. There are cafés, convenience stores and toilets in the terminal while you wait.
