Where you start and where you land
Departures leave from central Hua Hin pick-up points — the bus station, the Clock Tower and Colonnade Mall — so you rarely need a taxi to reach the start of the journey. On Samui, boats arrive at Nathon, Mae Nam or Bangrak Pier, all within reach of the main resort areas.

Because of the length, most departures leave early or run overnight: you cover the road while the highway is quiet and reach the pier for a daytime crossing.
