Charter
Speedboat or charter — the fastest crossing, with fewer seats and a higher fare than the ferry.

Arriving Koh Samui

Ferry to Koh Samui

Our ferries leave from Thong Sala Pier, Koh Phangan's main port, and make the short Gulf crossing to Koh Samui's north and east coast piers. Depending on the service, you arrive at Bangrak Pier, Mae Nam Pier, or Nathon Pier — each placed at a different corner of Samui, so choose the one closest to your accommodation. Ten operators run this corridor, with around 36 departures daily.

Timings and conditions

Crossings depart throughout the morning, with a cluster of sailings between 08:00 and 12:30. The Gulf of Thailand is generally calmer than the open Andaman, and this short hop is comfortable in most weather. The fastest services make the crossing in around 20 minutes; larger car ferries take a little longer but offer more deck space and a smoother ride for those prone to motion.

Koh Samui is a natural next stop from Phangan — bigger, better-connected, with an international airport, wider hotel range, and a lively dining scene. Fares start from around THB 216. The ferry runs year-round. If your timing overlaps with the Full Moon Party on Phangan, book your outbound seat in advance — departures fill on those mornings.
