Ferry to Koh Tao

Our ferries depart from Thong Sala Pier, Koh Phangan's main port in the south of the island, and arrive at Mae Haad Pier on Koh Tao — the island's central hub, steps from the dive schools, guesthouses and beach restaurants. The fastest crossing takes around 60 minutes, and with services from early morning through the early afternoon, you have real flexibility in when you travel.

Timing and conditions

Several operators run boats on this route, with first departures from around 07:15 and further sailings at 08:25, 11:00 and 13:05, among others. That spread makes it easy to connect from a morning sleep-in after a beach night or catch the first boat to maximise your day on Koh Tao.

The Gulf of Thailand is generally calmest from April through October, though the route operates all year. Fares start from THB 450. Thong Sala has plenty of longtail taxis to the pier, and Mae Haad puts you right in the thick of Koh Tao's activity hub.
