Piers on this route

Ferry to Bangkok

Getting off Koh Samui and up to Bangkok means leaving the island first — by ferry from one of Samui's piers — then continuing by road or rail. The fastest option is a direct flight, which covers the journey in around 75 minutes. If you're not in a rush, the overnight bus or train is a solid choice: you sleep on board and wake up in the capital ready to go.

Departure points and Bangkok arrival

Ferries leave Koh Samui from Bangrak Pier, Mae Nam Pier, and Nathon Pier, connecting to the mainland before you continue by bus, van, or train toward Bangkok. In Bangkok, services arrive at locations including Hua Lamphong station, the Southern Bus Terminal, and central areas such as Khao San Road — convenient depending on where you're staying.

With over 30 operators and more than a hundred departures a day, there's a reliable service at almost any time of morning. Early slots from 06:00 onwards are popular for travellers aiming to arrive in Bangkok during the afternoon or evening. Fares start from THB 744. Book ahead during the high season (December to February) and around Thai public holidays when Samui fills up fast.
